SLATE TYPES

 

Slate types include bannerstones, pendants, gorgets, birdstones, pipes, amulets, and other items not catagorized in other groups.  Banded slate is a considerable challenge but I've had great success with matching it.  Banding, texture and balance are very important and always considered in my work.  I keep my paint blends to a minimum, usually less than 1/8 inch from the repaired areas.  There are never any modifications or invasive techniques used on the original artifacts I restore.
