FLINT TYPES
The material, color, and the extent of damage will determine the cost of the museum quality restoration. Typically, flint types that are more colorful are less difficult than those with solid colors because the solid colors are harder to match perfectly. This fact is commonly misunderstood. I keep my paint blends to a minimum, usually less than 1/8 inch from the repaired areas. Where possible, I will make an effort to add parts from other genuine artifacts, such as adding tips that closely match the shape desired then paint them to match.
